lately these two have been even cuter then usual. i think they know someone else will be coming into our home very soon and stealing a lot of the attention. for now though, they get ever bit of my snuggles!

nothing quite like a little beach getaway to clear out the cobwebs and freshen up the mind! this years trip was a bit calmer then some of the past trips, which was just fine by this preggo! it was chilly most days, and pretty down right freezing the first day, but that just gave me plenty of time to catch up on pregnancy books, eat lots of delicious treats, and kick it with my feet up for much of the day. no complaints here, really! there were some glorious sunny times mixed in too, which led to morning beach walks, and an italian ice so yummy that i'll be thinking about it until next year.

it's time to get back into the swing of things here on the homefront though. i missed our pups like crazy and i'm now ready to start prepping the ol' etsy shop for the christmas rush ahead. one can never start too early on that, especially when someone will be 9 months pregnant come christmas time. should be an interesting holiday season this year!

barkley's 2nd birthday!

as mentioned a few days ago, wednesday was barkley's birthday! we had a lovely little party for him here and i think he rather enjoyed being king for the day. here are a few moments captured from the day...

we also took the pups to the doggie park for a bit of running around, sniffing butts, and getting muddy. it was mirabelle's first time to a dog park and she was a bit nervous. you can see for yourself...

thank you so very much for all the love and sweet comments yesterday. evan & i are super stoked about these new roles we're about to take on. it feels so good to finally be able to talk about it here now. i've had this huge secret for about 2 months and it was so hard to not say anything, so i found myself just holding back on everything. no fun at all!

in other exciting news, today's barkley's birthday! my little boy is now 2 years old. check out his first appearance on the ol' blog. this weekend we spoiled him rotten as an early birthday present. he did some hiking, some new dog sniffing, some swimming, and even had his very first boat ride. barkley is the first dog i've ever had, so naturally his birthday is a big deal!

tonight we're having a little doggie birthday party complete with party hats, presents, puppy pizzas and even a birthday cake.

yesterday, with the temperature up around 90, we decided that the pups needed a bit of a cool off. so off i went to purchase them a new kiddie pool! barkley had one last summer and absolutely loved it, but then decided to destroy it once it started creeping into fall weather. so without further adieu, here' s mirabelles first kiddie pool experience.

i must admit, i did roll up my jeans and stick my feet in for a cool off too. before they made a muddy mess of it that is.

where do the days go?

i've gotta say, these have been some very busy, but very very great days! adam & steph's wedding is this saturday and evan & i have been helping them get all of their last minute DIY projects all finished up. the amount of handmade goodness going into their wedding is just amazing. i'm so excited to see how it all comes together. pictures will definitely be shared next week!

also, today i am FINALLY going to get my hair trimmed up! i currently have this weird mullet thing happening and it is not cute! if you've been following along then you know that i'm trying ever so hard to grow out my do. it's a rather tough job growing out a pixie cut, and i've been waiting for as close to the wedding as possible to get my trim up so that it looks all nice and freshy fresh for the big day. the sides of my hair have finally grown over my ears, which is what i was waiting for, so it's looking like i'll be able to do a simple little bob. those hair & nail vitamins have been doing their job!

bark in the park

last weekend evan and i took a lovely drive down a very skinny, very windy little road, to help out the dog rescue i volunteer with, at this years bark in the park. it was such an amazingly beautiful day, and the fact that there were about 1000 dogs there certainly didn't hurt the fun factor...

and a few non-doggie friends were there too! these are some sort of scottish cow. i forget their names, but they were so adorable with there long frizzy hair and big brown eyes. love 'em!

i started working with North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue shortly after evan and i moved down to NC from NY. they used to be located just outside of charlotte and i would go almost every day to help out. then because of zoning issues they had to move about an hour and 45 mins away... sadness indeed! i'm so excited though because they've recently purchased a building back here in charlotte and will be moving back in a couple of months. that means lot of afternoons taking dogs for walks and giving snuggles all around. i can't wait!
