a long weekend in VA...

last thursday penny and i took a 7 hour journey to an adorable little farm house in Virginia, right on the Chesapeake Bay. we met up with some old friends from NY whom i get to see maybe once a year if we're lucky. sadly, evan wasn't able to take the time off and come with us so mama had to put her big girl pants on and make the road trip, with a toddler, all by herself. sometimes i surprise even myself with how far i've come. before penny, you wouldn't catch me taking such drives all by my lonesome, but something about having this little girl who i want to show the world to will make me push those fears aside and just go for it. i'm so glad we did too, because this weekend was amazing!

around the yard...

these days we spend much of our mornings and afternoons picking flowers, finding sticks, and saying 'hi' to all the bugs spring has brought us. we're being sure to enjoy these days before the extreme heat of a southern summer hits. it's just a matter of days now...

biker baby shower

a couple weekends ago evan and i threw together a little baby shower/hang out day for our best buds, adam and steph. they have 2 somewhat more traditional baby showers coming up, so we just wanted to give them a day to kick back at the ol' motorcycle clubhouse, and spend some time with friends. and as anyone with a new baby can tell you, kicking back with friends is a luxury sometimes not found.

we love these two crazy kids, and can not wait to see them in their new rolls as mama & papa!

a pizza date with my loves...

saturday we had a little family date to eat some pizza. it doesn't take much to make us 3 happy as little clams. just give us a little sunshine, some delicious nibbles, and no specific plans for a day, and we're good to go! oh, how i wish every day were a saturday...

i think it was especially enjoyable because of the freezing temperatures that kept us cooped up all of last week. i can't wait to see some spring!
