well it's official... autumn is upon us here in NC! yesterday was a cool, grey, and rainy 68 degrees, and it was amazing! that's not to say that we won't see another visit from old man summer (after all it was just 96 degrees on saturday), but i'm ready to bring on the fall!

on my always ongoing quest to find the perfect fall/winter hat (it's super tough when you have short hair), i came across this one absolutely amazing brand. de*nada is just chock full of perfect chilly weather accessories. this first hat here is calling my name! i mean seriously, how adorable is that little pom pom!!!

i know these goodies would keep me toasty all winter long...

i can not tell a lie. i want to embroider until my fingers fall off!!! a few months back i began a love affair with embroidered goods and vowed to teach myself the art of the stitch. i purchased a book, bought some supplies, and haven't looked back! here are a few of my most recent creations...

beach weekend...

well, the beach getaway was just as relaxing as i was hoping it would be. there were ample bottles of wine shared between friends, naps on the beach, and good books read. what more could i ask for? while i definitely miss our little beach home, i must say it was so very nice to sleep in my own bed last night. barkley was super happy to have us home too and nothing quite beats a happy puppy!

as fate would have it, the hipstamatic app for iphones came out with a brand new lens while we were away and i instantly fell in love. it gives everything a beautiful watercolor kinda feel, and it was absolutely perfect for the beach scenery. i must recommend adding the bettie lens if you haven't already. here are some views from the weekend using the newest addition to my iphone arsenal...

and here is a little peak at some of the less relaxing moment from the trip. when a bunch of ridiculous friends get together, there are bound to be some shenanigans and tomfoolery. these are just the moments i was able to catch...

fare thee well summer...

evan and i are off to the beach in a few hours for a little end of summer getaway. technically i shouldn't call it little because it consists of about 30 of our friends, coming into town from all over the u.s., to all stay in one house, and live it up for 5 days. though i already feel like summer is over, and am having a hard time wrapping my head around swimwear, i'm super excited to sit on the beach with a glass of wine and a good book.

with us being gone for 5 days that means barkley has to get boarded, or as i like to call it, go to summer camp. i always feel so terrible leaving him there, but he absolutely loves it and actually gets a little depressed for a day or two after coming home. i usually like to get him a little something special to come home to and seeing as he destroyed his last bed, i think a new one might be in order.

i'm currently hunting for the perfect one...

i LOVE these ones from canvas, but at this price point, barkley can not be trusted with these just yet!

there are some really fantastic beds on etsy made from recycled materials. i love the rusticness (let's go ahead and make that a word) of this one from lovenostolgicwhimsy...

and last, but certainly not least, is this canvas bed from bowwowbeds. i actually wanted one of these before we even had a dog. they look so tough and durable. perfect for a pup who is still growing out of his chewing phase!

weekend visitors!

this weekend evan and i had a couple of very welcome little visitors. if you happen to follow me on twitter or facebook then you've already seen these adorable faces. if not, then be prepared for a ridiculous amount of cute...

i posted about these little guys HERE, and was lucky enough to be able to take two of them home on saturday after an event with the rescue i work with.

i just wanted to give them a few days of being absolutely spoiled rotten... and spoil them we did!

they are so super sweet, already crate trained, and ready for their forever homes!

how can you resist this much sweetness...

in about half an hour i'll be heading out to drop these guys back off with the rescue. i know for sure that we're not ready for another puppy, but dang it am i gonna miss them!

i'm just sitting around waiting for dindin's to be done cooking, so naturally i'm browsing etsy. it's pretty much what i do whenever i have any spare time... which ps, isn't too often. anywho... i spotted this gem and I WANTS IT!!! i mean seriously, how incredibly amazing is this apothecary cupboard from redrooserbab!
