penny pics...

just some of my favorites from this past week or so...

this has been a huge week for penny. all of a sudden she's doing real baby things. things like grasping a rattle for the first time, and giggling at mama's silly faces. she also cracks up at the sound of me laughing, which just might be the sweetest thing ever! she's constantly chatting up a storm these days. this gal has a lot to tell us about her first 11 weeks of life! right now they're kind of just grunty coo's, but we're starting to hear some actually "oooohhh"and "aaaahhhh" in there too. she seriously melts me into little pieces with every goofy grin. and let's not forget to mention the fact that she's started sleeping 6 and a half hour stretches between nursing at night. yes, mama is very pleased with that new trait indeed!

tomorrow we'll be taking her to my favorite cast iron hunting spot for the very first time. gotta get her used to these salvage trips at an early age. hopefully she enjoys it as much as her papa and i do. she is going to be my apprentice after all!

welp here's to another week flying by faster then i ever thought possible. i'll leave you with this little video i made yesterday. nothing fancy, it's just a bunch of random clips i had of miss penn. she's growing so fast i want to capture every single bit of her so i don't forget just how little she once was... enjoy, and happy weekend to all!

spring has sprung!

the past 2 days have been the most perfect 80 or so degrees ever! something about the arrival of spring, with a new little baby in our home, makes it so much more exciting then usual. yesterday we sat outside in the grass, i took off her teeny tiny socks, and let those naked baby toes feel the cool grass beneath them for the very first time. she loved it! she kept stretching out her toes, and kicking her legs... it was a happy moment indeed! it had me thinking about all the fun things we'll get to do this summer. like getting her a little kiddie pool, going for long walks in the park, and taking her on her first trip to the beach. this year summer is going to be epic, i can just feel it!

one of many firsts...

yesterday i had one of those proud mama moments, and may have definitely shed a happy tear over what you're about to see in this little video. it's nothing huge or groundbreaking, but it was a first for penny and that's all it takes these days. a bit of back story for ya... she hasn't wanted to take a pacifier for weeks now. we started offering it around 4 weeks or so, and she would just get mad at it and in turn cry. she really seems to want to be sucking on something though, seeing as her hands are in her mouth non stop these days, so we think once she gets it she'll be stoked. the thing that you're about to see that really gets me though is that this is the first time she's ever grasped something and held onto it with purpose. she understands that her hand can put that pacifier in her mouth (well, sort of). i'm tearing up just thinking about it...

if every first is going to be this emotional i'm in serious trouble!

10 weeks...

eeeep... my baby's got 10 whole weeks under her belt! things here are starting to get lots of fun now. penny is much more responsive, and quite generous with her smiles. i swear she's going to laugh any day now. we get these goofy squeaks from her that want to turn into a giggle so very badly. i secretly think she's holding out just to keep me doing ridiculous things in an effort to get that chuckle. she's a silly little bird indeed!

i still have yet to figure out how to get anything major done with a baby in our house. cleaning happens in the 20 or so free minutes i have a day, so needless to say this place is looking rough. but she's only young once right? and the laundry will still be here tomorrow. i know eventually i'll find that balance, so i'm not too worried about it. but in the meantime, who wants to come clean my house?!?!
